Success can be a problem

I was reminded last month of an instance that happened when Jeremiah was about age 5. The therapist was stunned I didn't remember, because he's never forgot about it since! Just remember success can be a problem.

He told me of a day that he and Jeremiah were to go swimming at our local Rec Center. Before heading out the door, I had instructed the IBI therapist to try and persuade, if not succeed in having Jeremiah put his head under water. They left, and shortly returned to report that after several attempts he succeeded because of a game he taught him.

However, when the therapist arrived the next day I confronted him in the doorway with both hands on my hips in disgust. I asked poiniantly, "What did YOU teach my son to do?!" A sheet came over his face "What do you mean?" I proceeded to explain that I witnessed my son, earlier that morning, putting his head into the toilet and shaking it out drowning my newly cleaned bathroom. Happily announcing "I did it mom, I did it!" Well, at least I can laugh about it now.
